
MIRIAM MORGENSTERN
Miriam is an award-winning educator dedicated to creating interactive learning environments in which every student can succeed and thrive. After receiving her Master’s Degree, Miriam taught in a variety of educational settings including Boston University and Lowell High School, where she was twice named Teacher of the Year. During her tenure at Lowell High School, Miriam founded a small learning community dedicated to social justice and initiated international teacher exchange programs with teachers from Germany and Cambodia.

In 2015, Miriam left the classroom to pursue her work of rethinking what and how we teach. With a former colleague, she co-founded the non-profit, History UnErased (HUE). At HUE, she oversaw grants from the NYC Department of Education, and developed an innovative inquiry model that guides teachers and students as they move from teacher-directed instruction to student-directed learning. In 2019, Miriam began working as an independent education consultant and curriculum designer. In that capacity, she has created financial literacy and career exploration curricula for teenagers that promote inclusivity and accessibility and developed an environmental justice lesson guide based on two films directed by filmmaker and environmentalist Kalyanee Mam for the Global Environmental Project
Miriam is the co-author of the Intersections and Connections Curriculum, facilitated the first genocide education program in Phnom Penh, Cambodia and participated as the content advisor for LGBT+ history and women's history for the Massachusetts History and Social Sciences Framework. She has also acted as state coordinator for Educators Rising, a national organization dedicated to providing a clear pathway to increase teacher diversity and teacher quality.

Miriam has trained teachers throughout the United States in innovative pedagogy with a focus on English language learners. Her approach encourages learner success by providing engaging content, risk taking, and continuous feedback.
Miriam received her bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Brandeis University and her Master’s Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (MS TESL) from the State University of New York at Albany. She also studied at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is certified to teach Social Studies and ESL in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
